Our diagnostic package for gay couples looking to explore their fertility or start a family includes male fertility tests for both partners, which analyse semen and sperm count. Many of our same sex male couples opt for this fertility diagnostics package prior to egg donor and surrogacy.
During gestational surrogacy, the donated eggs are mixed in vitro with the sperm of one of their father’s. To maximise chances of success, it’s advised that one or both intended fathers assess sperm quality, to identify any potential fertility issues that could make conception more difficult.
It is also useful to have an idea of sperm health ahead of other treatments, such as sperm freezing.
What’s included?
- 2 x semen analysis: semen analyses test sperm health by looking at morphology (sperm appearance), concentration (number of sperm) and motility (movement of sperm). The results from these analyses are reported in accordance with the WHO (World Health Organisation) criteria.
- 2 x fertility questionnaires
- Phone or video consultation with a fertility specialist.
Semen analyses can vary over time. If your last semen analysis was over 6 months ago, or you have reason to believe your sperm quality has changed, we would recommend that you repeat the test.
If you would like to include specific male fertility tests that are outside of our package, simply get in touch with one of our advisors for a bespoke quote. We are able to cater to a wide variety of tests and services.
Following your couple’s fertility tests, our post-result consultation can be done with one of our fertility specialists either over the phone or online. This consultation is designed to ensure you understand your fertility test results and have the opportunity to ask any questions on next steps.
Once your diagnostics package is booked, an advisor will offer you a choice of clinics for your fertility tests, and arrange all of your appointments. We are a virtual clinic with partner treatment centres in London, Manchester, and Hertfordshire. We have low or no-travel fertility diagnostics and treatment options, so we may be able to help regardless of where you are.
