Before ICSI is recommended, our you will have undergone diagnostic tests to investigate your fertility. The treatment is most commonly used during IVF when a male partner has a low sperm concentration, blockages in the reproductive tract, poor mobility of sperm, or after a vasectomy has taken place. It can also be advised by consultants in the case of couples who have had previously unsuccessful cycles of IVF. Occasionally, ICSI may be recommended when a female partner produces a low number of eggs during egg retrieval, as it can directly improve the chances of fertilisation.
Your ICSI treatment starts with consultations where you and your partner can share your medical history and treatment preferences. Once tests are carried out and ICSI is decided to be the most appropriate pathway, the treatment process can be broken down into 5 steps:
In the same case as with traditional IVF treatment, any remaining good quality embryos can be frozen and stored for future use in another cycle.
While ICSI is not always a guaranteed successful procedure, it has a slightly higher rate of success compared to IVF on its own. This is due to the fact that the injection process ensures that the sperm always enters the egg, which is more likely to result in an embryo.
If you're unsure which treatment is right for you, please get in touch with our fertility advisors; they will provide guidance and help you explore your options.

Please note that during the Covid-19 situation, to protect you and staff we have decided to carry out Covid Antigen tests for those undergoing (or providing semen for) treatment. We feel these are necessary to ensure that treatment is carried out safely.
Covid Antigen tests cost £86 each, and you should expect around two tests per cycle. Apricity’s Covid Antigen tests are priced at cost price without applying a premium or profit margin.
If you are experiencing Covid symptoms, please be aware that you are able to access a free Covid antigen test available through the NHS by visiting the following website: https://www.nhs.uk/ask-for-a-coronavirus-test
The package does not include donor sperm, but if you need it, our trusted partner, UK-based egg bank Semovo, can help. Start your journey with Semovo here.
We do accept donor sperm from a selection of other reputable sperm banks - please contact our team if you wish to use another sperm bank.
Once you have identified your donor sperm, our team can place the order and make arrangements on your behalf.
The HFEA considers that there isn't enough evidence to support the efficacy of some "add-on" treatments such as time-lapse imaging or PGS, which is why we do not include them in our standard pricing packages. We also do not include non-routine tests such as Natural Killer Cells or DNA fragmentation, although if required we would be happy to arrange them for you at additional cost.

*Evidence on the effectiveness of acupuncture and reflexology for this purpose is unclear and for most patients having routine in vitro fertilisation (IVF) is effective without using any complementary therapies.
In the unfortunate event that your cycle is cancelled, or certain milestones are not met, we are committed to refunding you part of your treatment cost.
